  1. So sorry for your loss, Pearlie. May she rest in peace. Yet another grim reminder of why we're all here. NOPE! In remembrance of Pearlie's cousin and everyone who has succumbed to this terrible disease.

  2. I am beginning to believe that I AM stronger than my craves. What a great place to be. And SAZ, your question regarding why I am on the patch has made me dig deep - for me, It is/was FEAR that I wasnt strong enough. I QUIT smoking; I am so done with it, and now do embrace the withdrawal. But I was still putting nicotine into my body. I want it gone. There is not one good thing that smoking/nicotine gives me or does for me. It is a lie that I enjoyed smoking, that it made me happy, or that it calmed me Down. It was the addiction. I am an ADDICT. So while there is not one good thing it did for me, there are many bad things shielded in the lies/denial i lived in.that is worse fog then I will experience in days/weeks to come. No more smoking. No more nicotine. I am giving up my self induced slavery and reclaiming freedom. I am giving up lies and seeing and accepting truth. I am giving up fear and trading it in for strength. If I do experience 5 days of fog as I initially feared, there will be times during those 5 days that I am seeing through the fog as a smoke and nicotine free person on my way to FREEDOM.

  6. Good morning to all my lively fellow NOPErs. Today sees the B.Northies back to reality after their long weekend... May 8th may be Iris Day in the US... But it us also May Day or VE day the day we rember those list in WWII of all nations and its Red Cross/Crescent day.. So remember the fallen and remember those who volunteer to ease our burden. @Whispers hope its a better day mate. @Rozuki hope your recoveries coming nicely, was thinking of you and sending healing vibes. Edit: with only 230 sleeps til Santa comes might be time to start working on that wish list. Now the real important shit... Today, I pledge to honour the NOPE... Because nothing controls my life but me. Topic of the day: things that grow

  7. Well my lovely fellow NOPErs its another fine day to nope. No special days on the Aussie calender but the A-Northies have been very, very generous today. So before we nope, we need to consider that today is "Horay for Buttons Day"... because buttons are really important, ask any B-Northie chocaholoic. It is also "National Mascato Day" ... or as the kid calls it, Mosquito Wine... dyslexia the disability that gives and gives.... and finally, today is the day to annually clean out all those socks that have saddly lost their partners (unless you are like me and only wear them odd) as we celebrate with the A-Northies Lost Sock Memorial Day. Where do all those lost socks go.... and why???.... should we mount a rescue mission ??? ....NOPE there just silly bits of cotton... we have bigger fish to fry... cos we all need to NOPE ... nothing controls me but me, not today, not tomorrow, not ever, forever! Topic of the Day: Things you loose. Edit: So I'm a way down Southie... and some of you mob are A-Northies (being from the Americas) and some of you are B-Northies (being from the British Isles) and some of your are E-Northies (being from Europe)... see free stupidity translation service... with a smile

  10. CONGRATULATIONS @Sslip !!! ... Now I did some checking, and yes, there's no need to go to the third umpire its definately a 4... even Billy says so: so as my friend Billy gives your quit his signature thumbs up (the one reserved for when your not out) I can confirm that you have smashed it to the boundary and the score is Sslips not out for 4! You have done a an excellent job of meeting all the triggers head on and holding onto your quit. Along the way you have earned the respect and appreciation of most here for all the support you give to everyone weather its being the first to notice someone's having a bad day and checking in with them or keeping someone else's craves at bay with endless, hysterical hours of games your contributions are really valued. Make sure you do something special and significant today to celebrate and acknowledge your achievements.

  19. Thank you all for your support and for being there!!! Strange how you all, who I never met never knew existed until a week ago are so darn important to me. I think it is only people like you who have gone through this can understand and not judge my craziness a what I am going through. WE ARE strong. Thank you for letting me borrow and share you strength and helping me find mine. I went for a nice walk and swim. I will take a patch to work with me tomorrow, just in case.

  21. Wow Iml ! Wow ! What an exciting day ! Congratulations. You ARE strong....even on patches you are strong. You are going to win. You have education and intent on your side, all of us are on your side. Please protect your quit and if you need to do patches again do not hesitate to go on them. Patches or no, the most important thing is You have Quit Smoking. Returning to patches will not signify failure. The only way you will fail is if you put a smoke in your mouth and set it on fire and that ain't going to happen. I think you are going to feel better the sooner nicotine is out of your body. Well, you might hit a few bumps but, just knowing it is leaving your body will give you extra powers. Super Powers. Have no doubt, you are going to win. You are already ahead of the game by your work these past 10 days of not smoking. Please stay close to the board and let us know what is happening. pm me if ever you should need. Love, S Here is my jasmine wall with a special message for you, YOU GO GIRL !!!

  24. Sunny, you quit smoking. Congratulations, that's a fine achievement. That being said...don't beat yourself up over some random thoughts. We're addicts. We conditioned ourselves for years with cigarettes. One day, we all made a decision to stop smoking. Eventually, our minds and bodies caught up with the new program. You thought: "I want a cigarette." The thought came, and you didn't smoke. Thoughts have exactly as much power as we give them. You are in full control of your quit. It has been estimated that the average human has over 50,000 thoughts per day. That averages 35 thoughts per minute. There's bound to be a few curveballs thrown in there. The dichotomy of the quitter is something we all dealt with; I don't want to be a smoker, but I sure could go for a cigarette right about now. We all sorted it out over time, so will you.

  28. Love your attitude lml, keep reminding yourself of that in the coming days/weeks to come. The brain fog is different for everyone, mine lasted a few weeks so yours may last longer than five days. Be kind to yourself and let your body dictate what it needs. That means if it's hungry, eat. Craving sweets, eat a candy. Tired, rest etc. Our bodies are remarkable at being able to try to right the wrongs we did by smoking

  30. Hi Saz, I am so thankful that you suggested I create a pre-response to myself for an SOS situation that might arise in the future. I just went through a particular bad crave/feeling and was going to post an SOS, but I had followed your advice and went and created a pre-response the other day. So before posting an SOS, I read my pre-response and followed it. It took about 1/2 hour of following the advice, but the situation passed and I feel so much better! Thank you, your advice is very much appreciated.

  31. Then it hit me that the way to quit smoking is just to quit smoking. Don't put things in your mouth and set them on fire. Dead simple. This is it !!!!....any think else is just over thinking !!!!!!....

  33. Sweet darling Quitter, In the beginning, you just say NO, with all the bravado you can muster. You say NO, as in N O.. That is all you can do, just say NO and commit to NOPE a zillion times a day. Your job is to root out the romantic thoughts that addiction has planted in your brain, root out your junkie thoughts because they don't serve you anymore. You Don't Smoke. Stand up straight and realize, you don't smoke. End of discussion.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
