  7. I am so grateful so many of you found your way here....I know in the first year of my quit (even 2) I would have panicked if the place I called home just vanished..along with my family on there. I would have been so lost. With the amount of people here from the qsmb, I can imagine it feels as close to home as can be and that must be such a comfort. Plus....we have so many new people to get to know and join together in the war against nicotine addiction! Love the energy here! I am excited for the quittrain and for all of you! a big HUGE welcome!!

  12. Two and a half months. I’m pretty proud of myself. I’m sitting in a Coffee Shop parking lot doing some reflecting. I’ve just come from the Heart Clinic where I was directed after I had a heart ‘event’ a week ago. Pressure on the chest, sweating, anxiety. So far all is good. A bunch of tests, and I’m wearing a monitor for a couple days, then all the bright folks will take a guess at what’s going on. My guess, i smoked too long and did some damage to my heart/lungs. Thirty four years of smoking comes at a cost. Like all of us, i am under tremendous life pressures, and certainly this adds to the likelihood that my health will suffer. I suppose if I can impart any message here it’s this, keep the quit and get checked out by your doctor if something seems odd. Peace R

  13. Today is the day...I have many emotions going into this quit. I am anxious, scared, excited, and hopeful. I know how much better my life will be in the future once I quit. I am afraid to feel uncomfortable, of change, and failure. Here I am ready to start and am hopeful that this board will help me along my journey....I am going to document my quit on this thread just to keep track of my progress.

  19. Hello all! I joined a quit smoking group about a year ago, chatted a bit, and then disappeared for a long time. As I am nearing my one year anniversary of quitting I was really wanting to check in with the group that helped me out in the beginning! I see some familiar names and topics so i do think i found you! I didn't stick around for long or have too much to say so i doubt anyone remembers me but it does feel good to be back! I am still fighting to say NOPE! It has gotten easier overall but there are still those moments, like this morning, that i feel like having a smoke would be so nice. I honestly didn't believe a year ago, that i'd be sitting here today still smoke free about to celebrate a 1 year anniversary! Big thanks to those that were there a year ago to talk me through the first days of quitting! Reaching this first year is motivating but also feels a little like starting over and that I might just need to seek out that same encouragement to keep on going to my year 2 anniversary!

  24. Hi beaglelover, congratulations on taking back your life Yes the next few months are scary and exciting but with the help and support of others you will succeed. We all have been where you are and you'll have support from people who quit just this year, like you, to members with years of quit behind them. The most important thing I found was checking in everyday and pledging g NOPE on the NOPE thread. Also we ask that you post an SOS should you feel yourself caving to a crave and then wait for at least three replies. We will help you past the craving and let me tell you, it works. I used it a couple times and members came running to help me past it

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
