  1. Given what has been going on this past week with the QSMB site and the havoc it has created for many of you new and not so new quitters that have joined up with us over here, I just wanted to point out that this site exists because of Maryland Quitter. He was the creator of this place and he personally finances it. Yes he has technical help behind the scenes but HE is the driving force. If not for him and what he has done to create and maintain this place, we would all be out there scrambling and looking for a new home right now. I'm sure he won't want the spotlight but I for one would like to at least tip my hat to him - well done sir!!

  3. NOPE here for NOPEster. I quit smoking. I have no more time in my life for the nicco addiction. I DO need to loose the 20 lbs Ive gained since quitting. I am miserable in that aspect. Please, can anyone help me feel better about this weight gain? Its been over a year now. Im 56, female, not lazy, but always felt good about my appearance. Struggling here. But I will never smoke again.

  20. · What could possibly make me miss key moments in my kid’s lives so I could duck outside for 10 minutes? · What could possibly make me decline an entertaining evening (movie, sporting event, concert, etc.) because it required me to be somewhere for 2-3 hours? · What could possibly make me not care how offensive I smelled to my friends, family, and colleagues? · What could possibly make me lie to those I love? (Closet smoking, false quit claims) · What could possibly make me go back for more, even though it made me feel like $hit? It’s hard to fathom that there was ever an answer to any of these questions. I’m just grateful that I don’t even have to bother trying anymore.

  22. Hi to all the friendly Quitterheros out there! My name is Max, 32 years old, from Leipzig in Germany. I smoked for about 18 years, minimum 20 smokes a day, during the last two years more like 40 to 50, so: disgustingly much. I stopped smoking in the middle of Oktober 2017, so i am heading for 5 month right now. The first wild and aggressive time is over, but i am still very cautious and feel like carrying an egg of a hummingbird through the crouded Oktoberfest. I hope to gain some natural nonsmoking confidence over time. Until that day i will check in daily, read here and follow your stories ;-) Kind regards, Max

  28. Hi Max- congratulations on stopping smoking. It is smart of you to recognize you may still be tempted from time to time. Reading & posting here will remind you why you quit & will remind you of how dreadful the first days (weeks!) of quitting can be-so dreadful you'll never want to go through it again! I know I don't!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
