  4. Hi I'm Katie, I just signed up today, and literally quit less than a day ago. I was reading some of the posts on the message board and it really helped me get out of my own head when I was feeling weak, so thanks for that.

  7. Thanks! In my 11th day. I swear with my addictive personality, If I can, literally anyone can. Allen Carr smoked 4 packs a day. He quit. No matter how bad you think you got it, somebody has got it worse. I never thought for a second that I would be a non-smoker, even for 11 days. Hell, 1 day... They do nothing for us. They take away our health, our time and our money.

  8. Ran 1.25 mile on the treadmill then walked on an incline the rest of the time ...21.5 lbs so far. 35 more to go. How's things with everyone else?

  9. Update - I only smoked about 12 packs of Camel non-filters since starting this thread so I am not doing too bad. Only two packs a day. OK kidding aside - I managed to make it through that tough period. At some point Sunday Jan 14th, it is like the intense craves just kind of stopped. They hit hard and sudden then just... gone. So I guess it is back down to "I would like one" instead of going nuts wanting one.

  16. Welcome Katie. Listen to the others and read, research and reach out as needed. Everyone here is a great help. They all have been at my side for the last two weeks. It is not easy but it is not all that hard, just commit and remember 1 hour 1 day at time and remember NOPE -- Not One Puff Ever (believe it or not that one statement has gotten me through a couple of tough times this last couple of weeks and this site as well).

  17. Yeah, it happens. Sometimes I fall asleep in an upright position watching television. Usually if I fell asleep with my feet on the floor they would be a bit swollen when I woke up the next morning. Not so much today. Think this is anything to do with not smoking?

  18. I had several smoking dreams in my 1st year of quit. I would wake up horribly miserable until I realized that it was just a dream. I truly think that it helped me keep my quit.

  31. I’m a huge coffee lover. One thing I thought I would never cut back on, but I have had to. Later in the day is when it hits me. I’ve cut back about half of my normal daily intake. It seems to be making me nervous. Cutting back helps.

  32. Mountain hiking Saturday (10.3 miles) and Sunday (14.4 miles). Total combined floors on Fitbit = 785. Only drawback is that 6 of my toenails are black and doomed to fall off. Lichen on quartz crystals.

  33. Good job and yes, the extra time on your hands is shocking at first. Think about all that time you wasted and not only smoking but planing your smoking activities in your head. Do I have enough smokes to last until morning? Is my lighter about to run out of fuel? When can I get out for a smoke break at work? Oh wait, gotta go back to the house, forgot my cigs It's incredible how much of our daily lives were consumed with smoking related thoughts/activities.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
