  3. Hey L! Great progress so far Runfree's advise is bang on! It's whatever it takes for you personally to get this done. When we quit, we are battling two things at once. The physical addiction to nicotine and the mental reliance on smoking in conjunction with almost everything we do in our lives. They say it takes 3 days to flush the nicotine out of your system once you do go cold turkey. So, if that's the case, why does it take so much longer to feel comfortable as a non smoker? It's the second part. The mental part of quitting. Retraining your mind to function normally again as a beautiful non-smoker Is it easy - no, not for most of us. Can it be done - YES! Absolutely it can be done. We are all proof of that.

  4. Congrats on Day 6! Truth is no one can make that 'patch on/patch off' decision for you...it's all on your terms. We can only share our own experiences, right? That said, at some point, you'll have to go through withdrawal from the nicotine (from the patch). Some of us used it in the beginning to get over the hump from cigs; some of us went cold turkey. I went by the motto, whatever it takes. That included being grumping, fights with family, gaining weight, etc. Nothing mattered other than quitting. At some point, you're going to have to dig deep. We all did. We all made it. And so will you :). **edited to add - i tend to believe that 3 month thing is little more than marketing to keep you buying more of their product. but, i've been wrong before so...

  23. Good morning my fellow non- smokers, I wanted to share last night around 5 i took my patch off and this morning i ended up putting it back on before i went to work. Now i know i don't and won't smoke, but i hate that i feel like i cant do without the patch at times. Should i plan a cut off date? or wait until the recommended 3 months. At home its better to deal with the withdrawal symptoms than at work.

  34. When you are used to riding a motorcycle, riding a snowmobile feels weird. Would be similar to riding one of those Can-Am Spiders. Two points of traction & steering in front of you with the power coming from under your ass!

  35. What? Chocolate allergy? Snow...we go enough to salt the roads and make a mess. Just enough to hide dog shit in yard, which sucks when you got two poop machines. Never snowmobile. Don't have a bucket list but guess I'll start one.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
