  1. Hi Tyme2B, You will find your strength for your commitment with education about nicotine addiction. Keep this in mind always, because quitting smoking is really about putting nicotine addiction to sleep. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. All of us smoked because we are nicotine addicts - not for any other reason. The addiction puts lies in your head (I like smoking; I cannot quit; Smoking relaxes me; I cannot handle stress without cigarettes; I can´t quit right now it is not the right time; etc.........the lies are endless). All of these positive things that we feel that smoking did for us, are simply lies that the addiction created in our heads. And the excuses we used to avoid quitting smoking, are simply erroneous rationalzations that are based on these lies. I repeat, and emphasize: You will find your freedom from this awful, cruel, and deadly addiction - and the strenth for your commitment - through EDUCATION. With this in mind, I highly recommend the youtube videos of Joel Spitzer, who is a good personal friend of mine and also of some other members of this board. You may find his videos here: https://www.youtube.com/user/joelspitz Joel has hundreds of videos on his youtube page. Put them on automatic reproduction and just let them play !!! I also recommend that you visit whyquit.com where Joel is education director - Maryland Quitter has a link and comments about this webpage and about Joel here on QuitTrain https://quittrainblog.com/whyquit/ You have great support for your quit right here on this forum! We can also help you with the education process, and of course are always here whenever you need us. Jump ! We will catch you ! Finally, I would like to say that every smoker can quit smoking permanently. Once you stop believing the lies the addiction creates in your brain, you will lose your desire to ever smoke a cigarette again. Cristóbal

  8. Well today was a major achievement. My car broke down on the way to work and I pulled in at the garage . 2 hour wait for recovery truck and managed not to go for the fags. Under normal circumastances this stress would have ruined my quit... not today though! Very happy

  9. There are 10,000 cigarettes in this foto (I have seen it before). If you smoke a pack a day, you smoke 7300 cigarettes a year, almost what is in this foto. How awful and disgusting !!! Cristóbal

  10. If I had known how simple it is to quit, and about the tremendous benefits that would wait for me as a non-smoker, I would have quit many years ago. Cristóbal

  11. The Docs gave The Sarge a year to 'sort things out' ... so no Statins. He wouldn't take them if prescribed - nasty fuckers with no actual benefit. He did, sadly, have to go on Blood Pressure meds. While "greatly.reduced" ... he's still above the "normal" threshold - even during training season. Bummer. EZPZ

  12. All the hundreds of failed quits I've had in my 50 odd year smoking career...I know now why I didn't find my sticky quit... I didn't have my whole self in.... With this quit I jumped in and stayed in ..no matter what was thrown my way... To be FREE from the chains of slavery is a place I want to stay..so ...my whole self is staying put !!!!

  13. To be sure Abby - this quitting thing requires 100% commitment. If you are not all in to begin with, your chances for a life long quit are slim to none and I can say that now from personal experience. Commit to the quit!!

  16. At the beginning, you can't believe you'll enjoy life without cigarettes... but it's true! You feel better and better as time goes on. You go from not believing it will ever be good to not believing how good it gets.

  19. Doreen , sorry about those gallstones , been there .. very painful. I had laparoscopic surgery done on mine , my sister had the old conventional method ... you will be ok .... that gallbladder gone will mean no more pain and the good news once it is gone you will be able to eat everything . Tracey , hope being on the statins helps. My opinion on meds is ; less is best . Everything you take presents it's own set of problems. Eat healthy , live happy , worry less , stress less and laugh often . It's the best medicine there is .

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
