  1. Hi, just wanted to introduce myself. After being a smoker of 20 sometimes more but strangely never less puffs a day for 30+ years . I started my final quit on 1of August this year. I had been promising myself I would quit but always found a million reasons why I couldn't do it at that time "I'll do it later" was my mantra..!! So I went to my local pharmacy to join their cessation programme. We decided 12 weeks of patches and lozenges, I blew into the carbon monoxide detector and .. oh my the alarm went crazy all the red lights were crazily flashing red.. I was in shock at that wee machine, I came out with my NRT stuff and my quit date (a few days later) and immediately lit up (well I was in shock and NEEDED a puff to calm down!! Right??) As I walked home I realised that that this experience (flashing lights and alarms) had scared the bejezus outa me and I knew the longer I left it the more the chance I would find a reason not quit on that date and just be back in that cycle of buy a pack, promise this is last pack then say ocht next time... buy pack, promise this is last pack then say ocht next time..!!! That was the day I went cold turkey and here I still am. Geez it's been a right roller coaster ride at times but things have really leveled out for me now and I am holding a really strong quit working on making it Titanium.. I should also say I am a member of another support forum but I would like to be part of this forum too as I know I can now help others struggling on their path. I hope this will be ok with you all ?
  2. Vigilante justice? Hell yeah!
  3. NOPE - Day 6 now and tomorrow night will be my 1 week. This time its seems so much better than my last attempt a quitting!
  4. Not the Stihl. I'm in. Besides, I could use a break from protecting arctic turf. A$$hole criminals. Sorry this happened, Bat. I hope they find them.

  9. We are pretty lucky. We solve a lot. Some get everything back. Some get screwed too. I love getting confessions from them. You have to give them an "out" and then they admit to it all. Not their fault because.....and they will sing. People are dishonest about everything from their age to their taxes to their tipping waitress, but nobody likes to admit it without an excuse to why...lost job, got hooked on pills then went to heroin, but nobody sits down at the table and says "yeah I am a dirt ball thief". Once they write it all down I tell them "thanks for cooperation" and that statement is like the rope in the court room. Lawyer will say " what do you got? ". Written confession. Case closed.

  15. The Chicks are not handling the losing streak very well.
  16. Right now because of the holidays, the thieves are working extra hard. The rest of us are buying stuff, working more hours, preparing for the holidays etc. So, according to Murphy's law, some son of a bitch needs to ruin it. Where i work, not a day goes by during the holidays when someone isn't trying to walk out with stuff. Did other units get hit? Also, not sure if this matters now but was a police report filed? Not that the police can really recover stolen goods but the insurance may need the report. All that aside, it just sucks cause one cannot have much of anything cause some klepto thinks it is theirs to steal. The world hates a thief. It is why my neighbor has three Cane Corsos running around her property. Big mean ugly sons of bitch dogs. Wouldn't you just LOVE to been able though to walk in while the thieves were at work, pull your "protective piece", and be like, "Alright now what the f*** you doing...?" just to watch them crap their pants and beg you not to call the PD? Smoking? I am guessing we are talking NOT Benson and Hedges but instead Smith and Wesson?
  17. The chicks will rise up again !!!!
  18. Canada has maple syrup and beer, so does 7-11 store. Those people are so thick up there "Eh". Don't get off the boat in Canada. That kind of stupid can rub off.
  19. Thieves - lowest of the low. Too lazy (or drug addicted) to work for their own stuff Keep an eye on Craigslist or sites like that for your stuff. You never know. Some thieves are also stupid!
  20. NOPE!! I miss the ticker!! Just sayin.....

  26. Sorry to hear Bat. I know the feeling. Our house got robbed about 4 years ago right around this time of year. Those bastards even stole wrapped Christmas presents. The feeling of violation was the worst part of it I think. Hope everything was insured. I remember you posting pics of that bush cutter not long after I joined up here
  27. 9...whaha...sneaky sticks !!!
  28. Tyme2B - I might be going against the grain by saying this but - if that is typical behavior from mom, being able to concentrate on something as challenging as a quit would be even harder. I am not going to sit here and lecture. I would say your smoking habit is probably one of your lesser problems right now. You gotta figure out some way to handle mom. May have to cut contact, report her suicide threats, just whatever. Put your god damn foot down. I know she is probably older and isn't likely to change but you cannot subject yourself to this if you want a healthy life. This goes far beyond whether or not you smoke. Our health is more than being a smoker or non-smoker. It is the people or situations we have to deal with. What do I know? Not quit first hand like you do but if my step-dad were given the chance, he would probably act the same way with me. I have NO contact. Quitting, as we all know, is much more than just putting down that pack. We have to clear some obstacles before and during. For some, the quit path may be a walk in the park (as much as quitting CAN be) but for others, it is like trying to drudge one's way through a destroyed alley. Sounds like Tyme2B is in the "alley". Yeah but you NEED to do something about your mom. Most people do not regret getting "difficult" relatives out of their lives. Even if you do manage to put away the smokes, she is ruining other areas of your life.
  29. I'll bring the rope
  30. the title of this thread, "slap slap slap slap"... Was it originally about Bakon enjoying himself to a princess Diana commemorative plate?
  31. The only thing I would add is: there is a price being paid by smokers long before the big bill comes due. I kicked the can down the road for years procrastinating about quitting. I told myself that I feel pretty good for now. Hindsight is 20/20 and now I realize I didn't feel good, I felt normal. Normal for a smoker. Wasted potential is a price we all payed while enslaved by the cigarette.
  32. Blink 182 - I Miss You -- love that one. I actually still burn CDs for my car So that's on disk #4 along with a Peter Murphy/Postal Service Mashup which I can't find anywhere to share, but it rocks. So here's this one instead:
