  2. Bev as you know by now, symptoms come and go. Sometimes a minor crave comes and goes all within a couple minutes. Maybe once or twice a day. however, even after a few weeks, sometimes we hit really bad days. Just remember that the longer you go without smoking, the less you will have to deal with all the B.S. that quitting smoking puts us through. Sucks but yeah we gotta pay some dues (fatique, depression, anger, etc) on the way back to good health. We cannot just walk away without getting an ass beating. But is is plenty worth it.

  3. It was some long forgotten spat at The Other Place when The MQ proclaimed (paraphrased, of course) : "Oh yeah?!? Well when you have *A Six Year Quit* then maybe we can talk. Until then, bugger the hell off..." Sarge is traveling on Friday and won't have a chance to post on the actual six-year but he's here to say, with gusto: "Neener-neener ... Sarge got his Six ... Howdaya like dem apples ?" EZPZ (But he can't remember, for the life of him, what the quibbling was about at the time).

  4. I cried almost non stop during my first month quit. After a few weeks I was posting about how sad I was and that all I wanted to be was non smoker. A man by the name of John posted in response "make no mistake about it, you are a non-smoker". Those words changed everything for me. I was making it so much more complicated than it had to be. All I had to do is not smoke and boom! I was a non smoker. You're doing a fantastic job. The first few weeks are the worst and you made it through! Keep moving forward and congratulations! You're a non-smoker!

  5. Copied but works here Something to remember when you feel like giving up. 2 or ten or 30 days in.....there are thousands of smokers who wish they had a Two day quit. Shit- just two months ago YOU wished you had a Two day quit. It's hard work and don't give up just to start again in a few years....cause most go a few more years before quitting again. So one smoke....years more and wasted effort. You are well on your way to a life you will love

  7. Ten days is significant progress and nothing you want to just throw away. Think of those craves as the tantrums of your inner child. Reassure the child that it will get better. Your in it together and you will weather this storm.

  8. I used to chew on cinnamon sticks, jalapeno peppers, spare tires, dry ice, rebar.... Be angry. Angry is good. You're paying off the bill for the sins of yesterday. Never smoke again and you will only pay the bill once. Chew on some rebar and march on. I'm rooting for you!

  9. I just threw a chicken breast into some teriyaki marinade, niked a couple potatos, LOTS of butter, couple pepsis, and shortly after a couple grill cheese. yeah, after quitting smoking, the appetite returns. Well look at you, Mr Fancy pants with your high tech culinary gadgets like that egg cracker. But that is okay, one time i used a pair of channel lock pliers to remove a really tight bottle cap.

  12. Good luck Lisa. You lost a lot before and you're getting help doing it now so my money's on you. Let's not forget that you quit smoking and have stayed a non smoker for years now. Seems like you can do anything you set your mind to.

  15. Half an hour ago I was so ready to cave. I had an upsetting conversation and just wanted a smoke. I didn’t, I haven’t, but I’m feeling very vulnerable right now, even though I know a cig won’t change anything. I haven’t smoked in 10 days now, totally off nicotine and I really don’t want to put it back in my system, but I’m not feeling very calm right now.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
