  1. Hey Pinkie P....I've seen you posting, but haven't stopped by to welcome you yet... so.."WELCOME"!! i haven't read all the responses, but my advise would be to get to the 0 nicotine NOW and end this constant state of withdrawal you are keeping youself in.... As long as you give your body even a little, it will SCREAM for more... The uncomfortable feelings may last a couple days at most, but once the nicotine is completely out of your system, you can concentrate on rewiring your brain to accept the fact smoking isn't nessasary to cope with day to day life... There are many ways to quit smoking, and any way that is successful is a good way.... However, I have not personally known anyone who has been able to quit by substituting vaping for smoke... They still get as much (or more) nicotine, just use a different delivery system..in their mind they justify it by telling themself it's better than smoke.... Is it? ... Is snorting drugs safer than injecting them ( reduces the chance of AIDS). I would venture a quess and say that it may be, but in the end it's the DRUG that ruins your life in so many ways, not the delivery system you use to get it into your body. so.. To get off the soapbox... I want to welcome you here and hope this works for you and that by the time I finish this story, you have put the vaping pen away and are finally breaking the grip that addiction has on you...

  2. Just don't do it, Bev! You will be even more miserable if you smoke. Hang tight....do anything but smoke. Go stand in a shower til the hot water runs out and cry and scream while you are there, you can't smoke in the shower!!

  3. Just saw this Bev... I'm sorry you're having a hard time but please remember that whatever you're feeling now is a transient feeling that WILL pass. These feelings of vulnerability can happen. I think of it as the addiction whispering (or yelling) in your ear, trying to lure you back into the grips of the addiction. You've got to stay strong and counter that junkie thinking with thoughts that are actually true like: Smoking will NOT solve this problem. This tension from the conversation will not be eased by smoking as a matter of fact, I'll feel worse if I do smoke. Picking up a cigarette now will blow all the work I've done over the last 10 days. I'll be back at square one again. If I smoke, there's no guarantee I'll be able to quit again. I may be subjecting myself to a future of continually fighting this deadly addiction I've already been victorious these last 10 days. Nothing can keep me from success except myself. I can do this! i AM doing this! Or simply reminding yourself of all the compelling reasons you decided to quit to begin with. How are you doing now, Bev???

  7. Hey there NoMore. Welcome to the QuitTrain community! Here, you have access to great information and kind, supportive, funny people who say it like it is. Everyone here has been incredibly helpful and welcoming to me since I joined here last June (I think). Anyway, read, watch videos from the Joe, Spitzer library, read more and post. Keep us informed on how you're doing. No matter what your personal challenges with quitting smoking may be, they are dwarfed by the dangers of continuing to smoke. If you haven't done so, check out Alan Carr's book, "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking." I believe it's available online at no cost. You can do this, NoMore! We're here to listen and boost you up if and when you need it.

  8. I have gained a significant amount of weight back from my earlier weight loss about 50 of the 80....I am going on the HMR diet next month it is medically supervised diet to aid in weight loss. I just can't do it on my own this time and I need a push or a big push in the right direction. I think this will help me refocus and develop better eating habits in the future and help me with the maintainence phase. Wish me luck Lisa

  9. Half an hour ago I was so ready to cave. I had an upsetting conversation and just wanted a smoke. I didn’t, I haven’t, but I’m feeling very vulnerable right now, even though I know a cig won’t change anything. I haven’t smoked in 10 days now, totally off nicotine and I really don’t want to put it back in my system, but I’m not feeling very calm right now.

  11. Tomorrow, at the 11th hour, of the 11 Day of the 11th Month. Please take a moment to remember those who gave their lives to ensure WE could live in freedom. Regardless of the conflict they fought in, we owe them a debt that can never be repaid. Their reality ............................ Our reality ..............................

  14. Don't know the wise man who first said this, but ids been repeated many time, and keeps me on the straight and narrow... "I'm one puff away from a pack a day habit" (it's not a habit though...it's an addiction)

  27. One of my sister's was like that and had a very good job. She eventually went on "sick leave" and never went back. Years of medical diagnosis followed with apparently no result. Job terminated her and she could not get long term disability because of the vague medical details. Turned into a big lawsuit where the lawyers get most of the $$. As it turned out, she was just a drunk who finally decided she would prefer to drink rather than work. Now she's dead from drinking and smoking. I had to clean her house. Wish I had photos to show. It would dissuade anyone from starting to smoke. Truly sad when you come across people like that and you KNOW you can't help them until they want to help themselves! Their future is not a bright picture!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
