  1. Let's just be honest and lay it all on the table: The most exercise I'm going to be getting is hauling laundry up and down the stairs and chasing my 3 year old... I mean he does go pretty fast sometimes and he's heavy to carry around. So, there's that. Oh! I started doing a small bit of yoga in the mornings.

  2. That's good. Falls in line with NEAT (Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) which is really just a fancy sounding fitness industry term for moving around more. People typically see more results from being active throughout the day than if they just go to the gym and plug away on a treadmill for an hour. The only difference between exercise and activity is the label we put on it.

  4. Hello all, I just joined a minute ago, and glad to be part of a recovery community. I had my last cigarette an hour ago, and want it to be my last. I had two days, and then allowed myself to be triggered by a really stressful event. That is when I fall down. Good to be with you.

  5. Tomorrow, at the 11th hour, of the 11 Day of the 11th Month. Please take a moment to remember those who gave their lives to ensure WE could live in freedom. Regardless of the conflict they fought in, we owe them a debt that can never be repaid. Their reality ............................ Our reality ..............................

  7. Yep. Browns and rainbows rule the trout fishing game here in Tennessee. On occasion, you'll catch a small brook trout here and there. If we're gonna have a fish fry, I'll move down stream and catch some striped bass. Far less regulations concerning "keepers" and damn tasty as well.

  12. Welcome aboard NoMore. Really commit to making that one the last one and you're good to go. Take advantage of the information available here on the Quit Train. Learning about nicotine addiction dispels the myths and lies of the cigarette. And you're surrounded by quitters here, so feel free to ask any questions you may have. Congratulations on choosing freedom over cigarettes. Good call.

  13. Welcome NoMore! We're happy to have you as part of our family of quitters Please read all the stuff you can here, particularly the "pinned" posts at the top of the page. Understanding this addiction is really important. You mentioned about the stressful event that caused you to relapse? We believe that smoking will reduce stress from life events but in reality, smoking just reduces your anxiety that comes from needing to feed the addiction of smoking. Your life events are still there whether stressful or not. Smoking does nothing to fix those issues. Get rid of the anxiety you create for yourself by smoking and needing to feed that addiction every hour or so and you'll be that much further ahead. Hang around and let us support you on your journey to freedom!

  31. Hello and thank you for the information. Eighteen years of smoking must have done a number on my sense of taste and my sense of smells. I continue to have a weird taste in my mouth, so I will be glad when things get back to normal.

  33. I look at this in a different light then when I was first quitting. I was using patches first 2 days then showered on the 3rd day and forgot to put on a new patch. Wasn't much different after a couple of hours so I decided to not put on another patch. I went CT from there on because it just made sense to me that I should just get it all done ASAP and it has worked out very well. It seems to me that a lot of people are looking for a short cut (myself included). Some magical pill or potion to avoid the early quit symptoms. I now see those early quit symptoms as as dues payable for all those years of abuse. Once paid .... freedom awaits

  35. So many things people have said were a help and inspiration for me. Here's one. You have to learn how to accept The Desire to Smoke. You just have to tell yourself, "Okay now I'm having this desire so I'm going to just sit with that desire and tolerate it. Hi, desire, what's up. I see you, desire. It's okay. Hush, hush, sweet desire, there, there."

  38. Hi and welcome Pinky Promise. I will congratulate you on your desire to quit smoking and take back your life from this gripping addiction but, I must state up front that I don't consider you (or anyone else for that matter) to be smoke free until you have satisfied two things. Stopped taking nicotine into your body through your lungs and stop using any device that you put in your mouth then inhale and exhale anything, whether it be smoke or vapor. I'm sure you have heard this before and you will hear it again here, possibly more forcefully from some than others, because we're a quit smoking support site and we just don't believe that vaping has been proven to be a successful quit method. I won't wade any further into the whole debate surrounding vaping but did just want to give you the heads up that it's likely not going to receive support here. There are a couple of threads around here somewhere discussing this in case you want to seek them out. Just don't remember where off hand. That being said, as far as I'm concerned, you are welcome here anytime to participate with us on a whole host of other issues surrounding quitting and quit symptoms. This is a small community compared to some others and because it is, we get to know each other very well and there's a lot of genuine support here for all new quitters. We also like to have some fun along the way, just to ease the difficult times many are having from day to day - plus; we're all a little crazy I applaud your goal to soon reach the 0mg nicotine dosage with the e-cig then drop it altogether. Be sure to let us know when you have done that as that, to me, marks your true first day as a non-smoker Beyond there, lean on us for all the support you need. We'll be here for you. P.S. Isn't it just bizarre that Doreen posted up a picture in our Nope thread earlier today of exactly that ........... WOW! What are the odds?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
